An unknown number of PAD demonstrators have kept Thailand's largest international airport closed for 5 days and counting, leaving 3,000 travelers stranded. (from this BBC story)
I admire thailand for a few reasons - its the only SE asian country to never be conquered by a foreign power, and their 'blodless coup's. What is interesting here is what is not happening. Thailand's military is not being sent in, tear-gas'ing as they go. If a hundred protesters tried to shut down PDX or similar (BKK's control tower was compromised), there would be armed guards at the tower and people would die.
I prefer the Thailand approach. At the same time, this is also a place where disrespecting the monarchy is a jailable offense.
