the "point" of the January iPhone announcement was that the FCC registration was going to leak the product to the public, so Apple might as well announce it first. Well, there hasnt been any FCC product registration news about the iPhone which makes me think it hasn't received FCC approval yet. Seeing as how its mid-may, I speculate that the iPhone will not be on-time for its June release.
