BMW has annouced a new model car that runs on gasoline (300 mi range) or hydrogen (125 mi range). Hydrogen has got my attention over gas/electric hybrids. Hydrogen seems to be a good play because its the most plentiful element in the universe. Ive heard that the world's economy is migrating from a petrolium based economy to a hydrogen based one.

Now pump out some sub $1000 hydrogen engines so I can power a golf-cart sized thing, or a sailboat.

reading through that wikipedia link, there is an omnious statement: "Hydrogen is not an energy source, since it is not an abundant natural resource and more energy is used to produce it than can be ultimately extracted from it."
