my housemate scott told me about the local ecstatic dance scene. We were going to go together but he wasnt feeling well so i went on my own. It was an hour of booty shaking and arm waving and whatever else you feel like doing. The people there were very warm and friendly. It feels a bit like what i imagine the burning man or oregon country fair crowd to be. The ballroom is a great space and its divided into three areas, solo dancing, community dancing, and partner dancing. Most people seem to be in their 30s and there are enough women to keep things interesting. I suprized myself with some of the motions I was inventing. Its creative in that way. There is an instructor who gives a little intro at the start, then mostly does DJing and dancing with the rest of the crowd.
