bovine love

there was once a cow in a pasture. big and heavy and handsome it stood on the hill, chewing the grass. a younger, freckled cow came up to it and they stayed together all summer. they went cow-camping and cow-running and even visited the cow-street-of-dreams.

the fall came and the younger cow went away. the older cow looked for the younger cow. it looked in the barn and over the hill. it looked during the rain and during the sunshine and even at night, but the cow was nowhere to be found. the older cow was sad and could not be comforted, even by its cow-friends. the winter came and the cow enrolled in cow-school, often having the other cow in the back of his cow-mind.
