"a kept woman" - all the definitions for this from google say an adultrous woman. thats not the definition I know. I think a kept woman means a wife or girlfriend who is financially (and maybe emotionally, too) dependent on a man, but actually enjoys it. A happily married woman who is okay with having a huge portion of her needs come from her husband or boyfriend. usually a husband. "I am a kept woman" she would say, jokingly to her girlfriends, as she described her new house.

"a trophy wife" - someone whom a man has a relationship with for the purpose of his fulfillment of social roles. A rich man whose peers are in committed relationships may feel the need to present the appearance of being in a similar relationship.
