12-Aug-03 K8 Support!

Eric Biederman of Linux NetWorx, Stefan Reinauer of SuSE, and Yh Lu of Tyan have all been working to get the K8 up. At this point, single, double, and quad-processor systems have been tested and are working, support both 32- and 64- bit kernels. AMD has provided significant support for this effort. LinuxBIOS is working on the Arima HDAMA (Opteron Mobo, $490) and the Tyan S2880 ($450, yikes) mainboards. Watch this space for a major announcement regarding LinuxBIOS and clustering on K8s.
