There is a great story on /. about a superfast car that is entirely electric. The tzero sportscar does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and is supposedly powered by 6800 LithiumIon laptop batteries.

a more "ordinary" electric car: The comments also point to the Tango electric car. Whats cool is that they arent secretive about their batteries at all. The Tango is powered by 25 exide batteries. The motor is an FB1-4001 and can be bought from electroautomotive.
