There was a good PTP weekly meeting tonight. Lots of people there. A little bit of actual meeting work got done. Mostly it was a rebuilding of relationships amongst a lot of core PTP people.
The ride home felt solid - a satisfying experience of trading effort for wheel speed. The night was clear, inviting and warm. The first 10 minutes of the ride was thoughts of PTP issues, the remaining 30 minutes I thougth of one thing - the trike. Something with 3 wheels, no more balancing. Putting a PC and a battery on my non-gas-powered vehicle. An LCD panel and fly by wire control. Logging into each access point the trike rolled by automatically uploading what was in the cached journal of GPS+timestamp records.
It all starts with a frame. Something that supports two steerable front wheels and one fixed rear wheel. I suppose I need to get the design out in CAD. Im not saying I have some great design. An ME could do a much better job. But the design would have to be free, no cost and no restrictions on its use. Then comes the raw materials and the welding. Oh the welding. Ive learned two things about welding, there is something called a Tig welder which is the 'best' and there is everything else - Mig and Arc welding. Anyone know where I can use a PC with autocad for a while?
