how not having an income

how not having an income has changed my life:

ive stopped leaving the house to be a cafe butterfly. at home i dont buy apple juices or tea and i dont eat out for lunch. when i had to drive, i started counting miles. the VW stopped working. it has a clutch or transmission problem that i have no money for. my tshirts all have at least one stain on them. ive stopped going to the rose and raindrop for friday beer. ive stopped drinking beer altogether (except when someone buys me one). when my mother visits, i ask her to add a couple items for me to her grocery shopping list. ive stopped paying rent (fortunately im able to do that and still live here). i dont get the newspaper. i buy one occasionally when im in town. i cant afford flats of berries like i used to by. (luckily blackberries grow everywhere in portland) the stove in the house is broken and i cant find my multimeter to try and diagnose it so i use the propane stove thats built into the VW to boil water or fry things. my bike frame is cracked. i asked the bike builder who noticed the problem for a repair quote. while at OSCON at the mariott, i took home a wall st journal off a countertop left by, i assume, a hotel guest. the next morning, while reading the paper, doing this on a regular basis seemed like "a good idea". i cant take K out to dinner. i cant move out of the boonies when id love to live close to town again. i dont have cell phone conversations longer than 5 minutes. i used to stay on top of and even enjoy the simple budgeting i do. now i put it off like bad news.
