Its summertime and for the

Its summertime and for the last couple summers i wanted to start building a vehicle of my own making. Something between a bicycle and a car. Something self propelled and weatherproof yet much smaller and lighter than a car. While hanging out in the hallways at OScon I was talking to Aaron J and Dave J. We came to the conclusion that what I want to build a recumbent trike. Two front steerable wheels with a single powered rear wheel.

The power would come from a propane burner heating a steam powered system. I want the bike to be totally fly-by-wire. An analog joystick would be the main input and there would be at least one small LCD panel within view of the rider. There would also be a completely enclosed cockpit, removable for warm weather riding.

Roll the bike out of the garage, get in. Check the battery level meters. Flick on the computer systems. Self test OK. Ignite the heater. (this kicks off the computer to open the gas valve, throw out a few sparks on the electric sparker). Watch the temperature and pressure gagues rise. Lock the hatch and cooly grab the control stick. It'll probably be a PC joystick with buttons on top of the yolk. The steam pressure has passed the minimum amount for launch. Engage the drive wheel and feel the bike roll forward. Accelerate down the road. cool.
