really good article about nuclear weapons and the bush administration. ug. we have other priorities. how can i concentrate on spazmo and project f when an overriding priority takes over? maybe its not my job to worry about bush putting the US on a path of destruction. ive often thought about 9to5ers simply not having enough time to change the world or even form an informed opinion on what to vote about. its like a family that lives on a boat and the boat has a hole and there are no tools on the boat to permanently fix the hole. the father wants to be a world-class violinist and aside from taking care of the kids and spending time with the wife, he wants to practice all the time. but almost every time he picks up the violin the hole springs another leak, so down he goes with his bucket of tar and hammer and nails and he doesnt get any better at the violin and he resents the hole in the boat. i looked through the VW manual about repairing the clutch. you have to take out the whole engine and id love to do that and fix the oil leak and the busted heat exchanger that ive been living with for years. but say i take a whole week off and do just that, which is what i think it would take. is that worth it? doesnt it make more sense to work a week on spazmo which could provide ample money to get a new car or pay for a repair. i guess its the usual software manager's question of build or buy.
i feel pretty manicical this morning, which is a mood i get into on some mornings. manical meaning that everything seems possible. i figure it is the pendulum swinging the otherway from depression.
with software there is a feeling of you can have whatevery you want, as long as you are willing to build it. the tools and the resources are pretty much unlimited. unlike the real world where you have to buy tools and raw materials.
