Its 1am on a Sunday night. Ive been in the shade much of today, still letting the ol sunburn recover. it was real bad. the night of snorkeling was a long long long painful night. getting up every few hours to run the shower water over my back. it starts cold at my neck and is quite warm off my butt because the skin on my back is producing so much heat.
I got a train ticket for Thursday back to Bangkok, so I've got 4 more nights in Ko Samui. It was so hot today. From 12pm to 3pm is not possible to do much unless you are indoors with a lot of air conditioning. I keep in touch with home news at kgw.com and war news on the bar TVs that play BBC. I've been thinking about the people at home and how my return flight is coming up. I actually have a change to change the ticket - NW Air is supposedly allowing one change penalty free because of the war. I called my mom today, but only for a minute as its quite expensive. it turns out my brother greg is back home in portland from his adventure in santa barbara. Im proud of his trip and I hope to see him soon.
I met T&R at the usual time and place, 7:30 at the "Will Wait" bar on the main road. 7:30 is when they start the movie. Tonight it was "Catch Me If You Can" - a high quality handicam version. Then we had a drink at another place that was playing the tail end of Jackass. It was funny. Across the street was a bar called Full Circle that had some loud live music. Local Thai people in a band that was doing lots of cover songs. the guitar guy was quite good. So we went over there and listened to them finish the set. The mood in the bar was uncomfortable as it had a high ratio of white guys "with" thai girls. I'm gonna need another gin&tonic I thought. The first couple cover songs were good. It was a lot of fun and of course it always warm out and its so easy to be outside. One of the older guys was acting a little out of control. the thai girls always act out of control, or at least they can easily match the guy they're with. I tried not to judge, instead I thought when am I out of control? Never. pretty much never. What makes me feel free? Last summer I was at a concert in Estacada (Big Stink) with Seth and there was an electronica group playing. I really got into it. So something like that would be good. We left the club when the band finished. There is a drag queen club down the street that Ramona wanted to see so we went. We chatted with a couple cross dressers and watched them pole dance. Trent and I had another singha. We talked about tatoos - he has 4 major tatoos on his arms and esentially the Thundercats logo on each breast. I went down a sidestreet that I had explored during the day and saw that here is where the dance places are. maybe i'll try that tomorrow night.
I went into burger king and said "Yaak dai Big Fish" I want a big fish. Those sandwiches rule. Time for bed.
