im on the island, and im not liking it much. chewang is a big khao san road, shops that go on and on and there are only 5 unique kinds of shops. i found the sweeds and we went for a motorbike ride, all three of us on a little bike. most of the people here are travelers, either young or wealthy. i have a place by myself for 400 baht/day. im spending quite a bit, about $25 a day. the percentage of clothes in my backpack that come from thailand goes up every day. today got two shirts that are not collored shirts but nicer than tshirts. 199 baht ($4.80) each. then food and 150 baht motorbike rental. yesterday was especially expensive because the bus ride was $15 and about $18 for a tape player and two eminem tapes, more food, batteries, etc. for use during the bus ride.
argg! this is fun when it involves people i like being with but by myself it feels like a waste. i got sunburnt today. we were in the sun all day on the ferry ride and the motorbike but it didnt feel hot because it was so overcast so put just a bit of sunscreen on the back of my neck. the first views of the bay of bangkok were awesome as were coming up to the island and getting on the beach for the first time.
after lunch with the sweeds, i thought id walk around a bit a look for a belt - the one i brought ripped in two. the girls enjoyed shopping and we took a good long while walking around. Out of the blue, Ramona came over to me on the sidewalk to say hi. it turns out the canadian couple from kanchaniburi has been here in ko samui since they left kanchaniburi. they probably told me thats where they were going but i just forgot it.
tomorrow im meeting elizabeth and linda at 10am (wednesday) to find a place to snorkel around at. someplace we can get to by motorbike. im meeting the canadians at 2pm on thursday, although i may decide to leave the island by that time.
