there should be some happy

the command line. there should be some happy mix between command lines and guis. right now the bash/xterm mix is 99.9999% command line and 0.0001% gui in that modern xterms can identify URLs when you mouse over them.

what about bumping the gui to 10%. take the output of standard unix utilities and work with them graphically.

basically, add onto grep to send its output in XML form to a local port. it doesnt care if the port is not there (so non--aware xterms work as usual). then the super xterm would have a clipboard of sorts where stuff could be referenced through control or alt keys and pasted into the command line easily.
